Sterylkobus w gminie Grunwald

W dniu 2 października 2021 r. sterylkobus SOZ Północ, którego operatorem jest Straż Ochrony Przyrody i Praw Zwierząt, po raz pierwszy odwiedził z akcją kastracji mobilnych gminę Grunwald (woj. warmińsko-mazurskie). Stacjonował przed świetlicą wiejską w miejscowości Dylewo. Akcja spotkała się z ogromnym zainteresowaniem jej mieszkańców.

W ramach poprawiania własnych wyników ciągu jednego dnia zabiegom poddano łącznie 56 zwierząt, w tym:

– 17 suk,

– 5 psów,

– 29 kocic,

– 5 kocurów.

Zaczipowano i wpisano do rejestru zwierząt oznakowanych elektronicznie 54 zwierzęta.

U jednej suczki stwierdzono zapalenie macicy, u innej przepuklinę pępkową.

Fotografii mało, bo akcja była niezwykle intensywna i brakło czasu na jej dokumentowanie. Niemniej duże wrażenie zrobiło na nas pierwsze prezentowane zdjęcie. Jest na nim, jak w pigułce, cała idea kastracji mobilnych i ich odbiór przez mieszkańców wsi i małych miasteczek biednych regionów Polski. Oczekiwanie i lekka obawa, ale przede wszystkim miłość, troska o swojego zwierzaka i duże poczucie odpowiedzialności za niego . Takie obrazki widzieliśmy wszędzie gdzie się pojawialiśmy ze sterylkobusem i to nas napędzało.

Mobile sterilization

We ended the season of mobile sterilization actions on October 3, 2021 in our home commune of Dąbrówno.

The campaign was possible thanks to the acquisition of funds from the NOWEFIO Civic Initiative Program. Our team decided to close ranks even more. Thanks to this, a record number of 60 animals was subjected to sterilization!

- 15 bitches (including one with pellets in the spine),

- 8 dogs,

- 29 cats (including one pregnant),

- 8 males (one with the fusion of the conjunctiva with the cornea),

Six animals received appropriate measures due to fleas.

59 animals were chipped.

We consider the season of mobile sterilization campaigns to be very successful. The team regretfully secured the sterile bus in the garage. We would like to thank all those involved in mobile sterilization campaigns. A whole team of People is working on this success in the form of reducing the overpopulation of dogs and cats.

The sterile bus visited the commune of Rybno

On September 12, 2021, the sterility bus 2 visited the commune of Rybno, in the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship. The donation obtained from NOWEFIO enabled us to organize the mobile sterilization of owner dogs and cats.

During the action 53 animals were castrated: 9 bitches, 8 dogs, 26 females (including 3 pregnant) and 10 males. 17 animals were chipped and entered into the database of electronically tagged animals.

An approximately three-year-old female who found her way to the operating table was very lucky. The castration procedure saved her life. As it turned out from the interview before the procedure, the owner of the bitch, wanting to protect the dog from pregnancy, gave her hormonal injections. This most likely led the bitch to pyrethra, an infection of the uterus which is a medical condition in untreated dogs and cats. In the uterus of such an animal purulent discharge accumulates, and the produced toxins begin to enter the blood and "poison" the dog or cat - they can damage organs, especially the animal's kidneys. The causes of pyomyeloma are probably hormonal disorders and the penetration of bacteria through the open cervix in the fluid and the inflammation caused by them.

Untreated pyoma, especially its closed variety, is a threat to the bitch's life! It is a purulent, ticking bomb in the body dog or catwhich at any time can lead to sepsis, shock, infection of internal organs, and even uterine rupture and death. Remember, hormone therapy is not a good idea to protect your pet from pregnancy. The only proper, effective method is castration.

The causes are probably hormonal disorders and the penetration of bacteria through the open cervix and the inflammation caused by them.

The action lasting several hours was not easy, but it brought our team a lot of satisfaction. We would like to thank all those involved in organizing and carrying out the campaign. We would like to thank the Head of the Rybno Commune for the kind welcome and commitment to the action.
